Meghalaya in the northeast, or the abode of the clouds as it means in the Sanskrit language, receives some of the highest rainfall in the world. All this water has acted on the natural limestone of the area for millions of years, giving Meghalaya some of the most beautiful natural caves in the country; some extending up to 30 kilometers in length.

You will be among the handful of people in India to enter these caves and explore their mysteries.

Cherapunjee, the wettest place on the planet, receiving upto 23,000 mm of rainfall annually, is a sight to see in the monsoon and just after. You will know why they call it monsoon magic. The rain washed forest is amazingly green. Waterfalls are everywhere and the plethora of birds and butterflies are simply amazing.

In the area where we will be camping, the caves are mainly horizontal and a good amount of the passages are large (high and wide) but there are also ducks and squeezes to be negotiated. Little climbing and scrambling over huge blocks involved, but not much strenuous negotiation.

We are transported as close as possible to the sites, but long hikes in steep terrain and jungle may have to be dealt with.

The focus of our expedition is of course CAVING. We intend to explore a minimum of 3 horizontal, breathtaking natural caves. In fact, you will be the few chosen ones to have entered these specific caves! Our expedition will be an adventurous trek through the most beautiful trails in the remote Jaintia hills, taking us away from the madness of city life into the heart of nature. Explore village life and sleep gazing at the starry starry sky! Visit the famous god’s creation - the root bridge and swim in the crystal pure streams.
